Sunday Swoon no. 7
Happy Sunday, friends! I’m sure most of you are probably gearing up for the Super Bowl today, or maybe the Puppy Bowl? What’s on your menu?
This first week of February was a long one for me, with more recipe fails than I can remember in quite a while. But that didn’t stop me from ogling lots of recipes, and I hope you enjoy a few of my faves from around the web this week!
An oldie but a goodie (and not just for mamas). I needed this this week.
Just started watching The Great British Baking Show on Netflix and looove it.
For bloggers: what happens when you ask non-creative professionals to work for free. (Let’s not either)
also, this post on eleven years of food blogging.
The Army is seeking volunteers to eat nothing but MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat) for three weeks straight. Only the bravest masochists need apply.
Is the end of Twitter near?
A sweets guide to one of my favorite cities (Nashville!).
On deck today: fully-loaded vegan nachos!
And this week: lemon angel hair pasta, vegan enchiladas and blueberry rye pancakes.
Lusting over this gorgeous banana-graham s’mores cake.
and this pretty in pink blood orange mousse tart.
How to make Turkish coffee: a beautifully photographed tutorial.
A genius technique for better pasta sauce, from the queen (Ms. Ina) herself.
We should probably make a batch of these cocoa nib truffles for Valentine’s day…
or some fun homemade conversation hearts.
or these salty chocolate peanut butter hearts.
or these boozy chocolate bourbon petit fours.
Have you ever seen a more perfect clam chowder??
Loving this tofu twist on a Chinese takeout classic.
Dying to try these roasted king oyster mushroom tacos.
and this super thin-crust arugula apple bacon pizza. Perfection.
Creamy mac and cheese, made in a slow cooker. YES.
It’s the weekend. Let’s cheers with a (roasted grapefruit) cocktail.
Ahh, thanks for all the fabulous link shares 🙂 I always enjoy reading your Sunday Swoon series haha! But of course, nothing is more fabulous than your blog itself!
Thank you so much for your kind words, Avery!! Glad you are enjoying the series 🙂
Thank you for including my 11 year post in your gorgeous little list. Sending you love all the way from down under xx
Thanks, Sneh! xo
Thanks for including my truffles in your round-up! I’m honored 🙂
Have a great week!
You too, Christina!
Oh Dear Laura.. Thank you so much for including my tutorial in this weeks Sunday swoon. Your kind words mean so much to me. <3
In addition to the awesome recipe links, I love the video with the free photography work. I was recently asked to do a photoshoot "to get exposure" for more than 2 full days of work for free. And when I turned it down they made it a big deal saying that I was missing out on a big opportunity to be exposed, when in reality I was promoting their product (with hours of work) for free. So it feels really good to see that people are talking about this and trying the get the message out that photography/visual content is a lot of work and creatives need to be paid for their hard work. Anyhow, that video struck a nerve and I had to share my two cents.
Thanks again.
PS: I am loving that vodka pasta sauce. I may have to try it for dinner tonight. 🙂 Thank you so much for the inspiration.
That whole subject just makes me crazy. I (almost) can’t believe they had the audacity to ask you to work for two full days for free! So ridiculous. Actually thinking about writing more on this subject at some point, as it seems so pervasive… Have a great week, darling! xo
